There are no cargo trailer insurance specialists. You must purchase trailer
insurance from an RV insurance company or from an auto insurance company. We
have found that internet searches for trailer insurance are not helpful. What
will pop up are companies specializing in horse trailers or RVs. We do not know
of any company that ensures cargo trailers as a specialty. We suggest you search
for RV insurance or car insurance .
RV insurance companies and car insurance companies both offer insurance
covering trailers. RV insurers usually provide more comprehensive coverages and
usually will insure cargo trailers.
Most online car insurers offer quotes on RV and trailer insurance. But
specialty insurers offer more tailored coverage and sometimes lower rates.
One specialty RV Insurance company web site notes: “Many typical insurance
policies cover physical damage only, while ignoring crucial internal functions
like appliance maintenance, towing, personal items replacement, and low branch /
overhang damage. Also, if you make a claim on your RV, it might negatively
affect your auto insurance rates.”
